Well since the Jambalaya thread has evolved into a BBQ thread, thought I would give a recipe for a slaw to go with the BBQ.

Ingredients:

1 large head of cabbage- shredded
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup sugar
2-1/4 tsp salt
4 dashes of cayenne pepper, more or less to taste (I use 1-1/2 Tbsp)
1-1/4 tsp black pepper
5 Tbsp white vinegar

Shred cabbage head and place in a bowl. Mix the rest of the ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a simmer. After simmering for a few minutes pour over the shredded cabbage and mix throughly and the place in refrigerator to chill.

Give a quick toss before serving. It is actually best if you chill it over night.

Note: I always use a glass or plastic bowl to chill it in, something about the vinegar reacting with a metal bowl. Dont know if thats true or not, thats just the way my momma taught me.
