Standing in a pirogue?

Hi,
I'd like to build a one-person pirogue that I can stand in for poling and casting.
I realize a great deal depends on the balance/ability of the user.
I'm looking for dimension recommendations based on personal experience.
Length? Width?
Is an asymmetrical design better than a symmetrical one?

"Skill" is the primary variable. My own experience is such that I would not pole a pirogue less than 14' in length or beam width less than 30". Bigger is easier/safer for me. In any case, use dry bags/boxes until you know how to use your stick.

The guys I have paddled with that wanted to stand up added a additional rib to the center section of their pirogues. In place of only the three ribs they added a 4th which widen the center of the boat. The 4th rib was the same size as the center one if you only had the three ribs in the boat.
As far as the width and length of the boat , that is determined by the builder and what he wants or changes from the original plans.
I believe the main item is the skill of the person. For the record , I sit when paddling mine.
