It is Strawberry Festival here in Ponchatoula this weekend. Estimates are calling for 225,000 visitors to this little city of 11,000. Good reason not to have the Rendezvous this weekend.
One thing strawberries turn into here is Sorbet.
One cup cultured Buttermilk
One cup sugar
Two cups fresh berries
i Tbs of lemon juice
Into the blender, puree till smooth, and freeze till firm. it can get really frozen hard, and still soften up pretty quick on the countertop.
We freeze this in used margerine tubs and take them along when we are invited to dinner at friends homes. Some people have been known to drop a nice spoonfull of this into a glass of champagne.
