strip deck flotation compartments

Needed atonement for the sin of painting a wood boat, so decided to strip deck some flotation compartments. Salvaged some redwood from a deck my late father in law had dismantled and put in a barn, also some spruce from an airplane I never started.

Not quite sure how it'll end up and what the final look will be, but will post more pics as things progress. Spent all day cutting, fitting, and gluing all the little pieces. I'm pooped! :shock:

Only when it's in the water, thanks to screw-on deck plates. 8)

Smart man. Those compartments have to breathe, and have to be able to "pass gas" to equalize pressure.

Got 'em glassed and couldn't wait to remove the masking tape before snapping pics. Epoxy sure does alot for the color of the wood. If I could do it over again I'd use less spruce...maybe it'll look less like zebra stripes when ya back off a few feet.

Reckon a good varnish will keep the redwood from darkening too much over time?

There's 55 strips in each deck...I'll be fitting those in my sleep! :lol:
