They are some interesting tarp origami. As a day shelter from wind or rain I can see a use.

Has any one any experience with Egyptian cotton canvas? It's pretty pricey, but if it is of high quality and out lasts duck would it be a value?

Yes, I had a Coleman tent of extra long staple Egyptian cotton. VERY good stuff. It would breathe, and I'd sometimes hang up the kid's wet stuff inside at night, and it would be dry in the morning. No condensation inside the tent.
