is there a noticeable loss of strength, or other problems that are lurking unseen, if i would use large-leftover scraps of glass on my boat instead of buying a whole piece?

Hey, got a use for the leftovers off-cuts of fabric from the new pirogue. A fellow brought me that power-boat that had the hole punched in it. Funny thing, those scraps are plenty big to patch, fill, build up tht damaged area. And, he'll end up paying me about enough to pay for materials to build another pirogue......or Matt's new kayak.

On the supposition (and, not a very good one at that) that I will expend the effort to learn to pole a boat, I bought a 12' closet rod of 2" diameter. I plan to glass it for strength and grip traction.

I'd likely use a half of one of Katie's plastic Easter eggs to mold an epoxy ball onto each end.
