Pirogue or kayak...

Purpose is for fishing saltwater creeks around St Augustine. I fish shallow. I have a couple kayaks, but the rocker really hampers the shallow water ability as I move from area to area. Looking for light and stable as I have gotten old. 60, 5-10 and 210. I don’t fish big water any more and only cross the ICW when necessary. I could buy another tupperware boat, but looking at other options.

I have plans for the wadefish, but the more I look at it, it is not quite what I am looking for. I did build a strip canoe 30 years ago as a gift for a family member. I mean no hull slap, wide, light and fast are easily achievable :) right

I welcome any suggestions. I have good wood and glass skills.

Thanks in advance

It's hard to beat a 13-15 foot pirogue for an all-around fishing platform. The rocker can be adjusted to your liking very easily. If you're not looking for a speed demon, keep the boat wider out towards the ends and make the bottom panel 24-26" wide. Good wood and glass would give you a 13 footer in the low 40 lb weight class.....or even lighter. Plenty of room for "stuff", too.

I'm happy with JEM Crawdad for such puposes. I've modified a couple by shortening the sides. It is real stable and SS&G out of cedar end up about 30 lbs. There are some pics on here and JEM site.
Yes, it is a tad smaller than I was looking at, but I have looked at your stuff over there several times. A more refined pirogue if you will. What draft are you getting?

My best guess is about 2 to 2.5 inches. the scum line is usually about 1/2 way up the small black "side"panel. I think the panel is about 4 inches. You are right it isn't a pirogue and the square stern produces noticable drag.
