Last week I paddled with a group on the Ogeechee and one of the paddlers had a handcrafted paddle with a cherry blade. After a few questions and a good lookover of the paddle the seed was set. I just happened to have a few scraps of flooring that a friend had given me just waiting on a project...
You made Miz Yak a wonderful wife. Keep up the good work. Let's start planning the next trip. We just got off the river an hour ago after three days. Great trip. More later........
Great looking boat Mick, sorry Robin's been feeling poorly. I know getting on the water with her hero to paddle her makes the day that much nicer! By the Way who's the old fart you let use you boat while you took pictures?
Good on ya mate, ya'll!
We did see a few Whitetail Deer on the way out of camp. They wander around not too frightened by the crowd. Some will even come and eat out of your hands (if you have real grits, they hate the instant kind). We only let the racoons out when we have florida guests, sorry Swampy but when...
More
I did forget the profusion ( that means alot, learned that from a lawyer friend, did I say friend?) of wild spider lilies that grew everywhere along the banks and the water lilies. Willows abound along the shore and with them in full foilage it makes for a very beautiful paddle (if I might...
Saturday 17 May on the Ogeechee.
Saturday I awoke to a bright, sunny but cool morning. Knowing Chuck had decided not to paddle I had expected warm but maybe the weather gods hadn't got the full report yet, oh well, sunny was enough for now! The river was at 3.5 feet so I was expecting perfect...
Friday Part 1 of the Trip Report, my point of view!
Well the weekend was looking good but somehow Friday turned cool and rain came down all day. The forecast was all out of whack as the entire weekend was to be sunny and warm. Oldyaker called early afternoon and announced he was on schedule and...
Sparkey lifting no more than one Braut at a time. Doctor's orders followed to a "T"!
Oldyaker and Swampy follow suit even though they weren't on doctor's orders.
Roughing it in Ft. McAlister, Richmond Hill, Georgia.
Put in at the Steel Bridge on Hwy...
Found some pics of a very interesting Folding Canoe Seat. Anyone seen one, own one, or have information about? This would make a very good project to a weekend or two.

Should fall into the 29 catagory, 2900 lbs that is!
Mick:
Great looking boat. Which one is that? Is that graphite on the bottom or just black paint? Still looking for my first build but definitely want to do a canoe. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Canon
I use a Canon A5 IS because of the 12X optical zoom. Makes quite a difference if you really want close up shots while on the water. Just be sure to use a good waterproof box and secure it when not in use..... I really like the software that comes with the camera, really easy to use and...
Paddle repairs
Have to do some paddle repairs from the rocks this past week. Didn't put much of a rock guard on the white water paddle when I made it! What was I thinking......
Earl's Ford on the wrong side.
I drove down to the river with my Mazda 5 this past week. If you can make it in that you can make it in anything. Later that day there was someone camping right there at the river. It is rather hard to get turned around to go back.
We do have floatation but...
Nice paddle
Great pictures. Next time you go I can lend you "Gator Dog" and he'll protect Little Bit...... Not sure how he does with the big ones but he was heck on the little one he jumped on... Looked like a great trip, thanks for sharing.

It’s always been my contention that if you listen to weather reports, you will never go anywhere as they are always bad. For once I broke with my tradition of go and see and am grateful that I did. We had planned a trip to the Buffalo River in Northern Arkansas for over two months and had...
