Hang in there Chuck. Two weeks ain't long. And with that new high tech. battery, I guess you will get a few more mph out of the bicycle. We got a heck of a deal living in this age of medical progress. Dan

    Archery

Hi guys, a little update on the Archery. I called Ron last Sunday and got some advice on rests, setup, and a eyes closed drill. I put the Hoyt in the shop for a string change this week, so I have been practicing with Rons drill and shooting with the single cam PSE stinger. I picked the Hoyt...

    Archery

Thanks Ron, Chuck. That's good information. And Ron, not more information than I need. I need it all. I actually have been shooting the XX75 2016s and getting the best accuracy. I have a few carbons that are not performing. I think because the spine is to stiff for the poundage I am...

    Archery

Hey Ron, that sure sounds like a obsession. And I just looked up the PSE Supra. At that price, it should go retrieve the arrows for you. I wish you were closer to Baton Rouge, I am shooting about 100 arrows per day, and I need to quickly get someone to watch me shoot before too many bad form...

    Archery

I am thinking the next step is to build a recurve bow. I was thinking to build a laminate riser and use commercial limbs until I got a lot more knowledge. Jack you would'n happen to have a bunch of those dinosaur feathers stashed away? They are getting as hard to find as hens teeth. Yes, I...

    Archery

Hi Guys. I didn't want to start a new boat build in August, because I would be in South America in September. So needing something to play with, I dragged the old Browning bow out of the closet and started plinkin away with Walmart arrows. So that is how it began. Bass Pro had a sale on the...

Tales from the Log of the Ruptured Duck

Jack, show her Bonny's web sites. Lady pilots get along well together. She could fly some whale shark or turtle tagging missions. http://blog.al.com/live/2012/03/bonny_s ... s_jou.html http://www.onwingsofcare.org/ Dan

    Snow Shoe 14 SOF

I am amazed by the quality of your work. And totally in awe of the patience necessary to do this quality. The dacron cover will be interesting. When I was young, I did a aircraft restore with this stuff. Dan

My New Toy and Fun Getaway Item.

Smart move Chuck. I always try to remember that there are people like me on the road, driving cars, and daydreaming about boat building or other stuff. Next time I think of it, I will bend you up one of the helmet mirrors. It will be a pain for the first week, then after you get used to it...

Gluing strips on a stripped boat

This is something ya'll may be interested in. Bonny will take the first paddle on "Tayanita" this weekend. Unless the weather is real good. If it is, she will be in Destin spotting sea turtles for NOAA. http://blog.al.com/live/2012/03/bonny_s ... s_jou.html . I guess this is my home town...

Gluing strips on a stripped boat

Chuck, I really don't have a weight limit, just some nerve damage from the two neck surgery's that I have had. I am running out of non fused vertebrae. The right arm is fine, but sometimes the left arm can't be trusted. So that is the reason for wanting to pay attention to the weight of the...

Gluing strips on a stripped boat

Your right Ron. The final boat has to be functional and safe. I just got a little sticker shock when I looked at the scale. I thought this boat would weight in the low 30s. But I did decide to leave all 4 forms in. I did decide to add 1"X1/4"strips on each side of the forms. I did decide to...

Gluing strips on a stripped boat

Thanks Jack. I know that 16-18 lbs. of that 38 lbs. is in Epoxy and 3 3/4 lbs. in glass . Your right, I always make sure that there is plenty epoxy for strength. I must say, that with each boat I build, the amount of epoxy used goes down. I doubt that anything will cause me to go back to...

Gluing strips on a stripped boat

Thanks Chuck. I was hoping that the wood could be a big weight savings. I do epoxy saturate the day before the glass. Then lite sand and lay the glass. I should be getting chemical bond according to the RAKA web site. I am still looking to master the workmanship to build my boat for all...

Gluing strips on a stripped boat

Hey Guys, another question. This boat came in at 38 lbs. with 6 oz. glass inside and out, about 1.8 gallons of epoxy/resin, and (after planeing) strips at .21". I was planning (hoping) for low 30's. Where will the best weight savings be? 4 oz. glass will only save 2.5 lbs.. I don't think...

My New Toy and Fun Getaway Item.

I was talking of my legs, not yours Jack. I just leave too much weight on the saddle at times. This causes discomfort. The Brooks Flyer series are wide and have quite a lot of spring travel. I never measured one, but when they were new they were bouncy.. Dan

My New Toy and Fun Getaway Item.

Jack, Brooks still makes the B-17 and the Flyer saddles. These came on most of the bikes I had in the 60's. I think the old rump is supporting more pounds and the legs are not keeping those pounds off of the rump.
