    SOF Canoe built to raffle

Yes, very nice. That should raise a lot of money. I would buy a chance. Tom

    And, a .50-Cal

If there had been a range master they probably would not have done it. This is a public do it yourself range. It was definitely bad behavior but.....I don't get pissed about much. I have an ex that kept me pissed for so long I used it all up. The only places there are staffed public ranges...

    And, a .50-Cal

Had a guy blow one off over my head at the local public range last November. I was shooting my 50cal muzzle loader. I was lying down on the ground shooting prone between the benches cause they were both taken. The wave passed over me. I had ear plugs in. It fired right after I fired. The...

    Another old Benjamin

You are right, I was thinking about a taper just as I was writing that last message. I have an old Montgomery Wards 20ga that my dad cut off for me when I was a kid. I saved the piece he cut off and glued it back on when I got bigger. The straight cut is not too elegant. The curved butt of...

    Short Lake Trip

I am shocked at the lack of sardine appreciation here amongst us. I have enjoyed many a can while outdoor adventuring. Sad day for me. I always though I would like to get together with some of you guys now I have my doubts. Tom

    Another old Benjamin

I have a 22 Benji I need to make the stock longer. The but stock is so short it is uncomfortable. Probably no elegant way to do that without making or getting a whole new stock. For what it is to me I think gluing a extender on the back end would do the job. Tom

    Deer hunting question

I can see how that would work. All in all hitting something moving with a rifle is something that takes more practice than I have given it. I once had a 50 yard target in the back yard 10 inch mettle disc....dings when you hit it. When I started shooting at it off hand I would hit maybe 4 of...

    Deer hunting question

"Easier to drop a running deer on 9 power" I have always thought the opposite. I have always lowered my power setting when I am walking and might get a quick shot at a moving deer. Easier to find them in the scope with the wider field of view. I crank up the power when I get on stand. I...

    Deer hunting question

Just got the Missouri Conservation press release today. The season is all over up here. Killed 239 thousand in the state this year with a gun, the bow numbers have not come in yet. Makes for a lot of beef steaks that don't get sold to guys like me with two in the freezer.

    TV 19'1"- 32 racing pirogue

I guess I never did give a final report on this boat and how it did in the MR 340 race and how I did in the race. My stretched TV although built as a tandem paddler it was adapted to be a solo at the last minute. It was a lot of boat for one person and was not particularly fast...or at least...

    What Works / What Don't

Don't know if I have told this story on this forum before. (we retell stories a lot as we age) About 200 miles into the race last fall a young man caught up to me and we started talking as we paddled. He told me he just decided to do the race a few weeks before. He said he thought it would be...

    Cheap kayak seat

One more recommendation from the racing world. http://www.rei.com/product/810392/therm-a-rest-trail-seat I bought one of these for the race from the recommendation of a couple older paddle racers. seat padding is a big issue for the 340. This item is truly great. I put it in my hunting pack...

    paddle rings

I shopped around for the lightest weight paddle I could find. The racing community I am/was attached to do not mind spending big money on wing paddles and the like. (The wing design is probably not the best for recreational paddlers) I settled on this one...

    Christmas eave preasent

That's the way to go. 870? Buckshot? I have heard about you southern boys and your buck shot. Can't use it up here for deer. Nothing like a WTBD to hold the bow of yur canoe down. Tom

    TV 15-32 SOF

Looking good....and yes there is an invite to the north. Thomas Hill would probably be less than a 2 hour drive for you. I would love to have an excuse to go give the Hybreds a try.

    TV 15-32 SOF

Looking good. Wish I lived closer so I could come over and see the project and help you with it. One of these days..... You know Thomas Hill (a power plant cooling lake) is open all winter. Last year I christened the Amanda Lee on the day before Valentines Day. The hybred stripers bite all...

Off to a little cold weather trip

Sounds good, wish I could come along. Did without the duck hunting this year had to put the venison in the freezer not enough time for both. I would think we have had enough ice up here to have pushed a few down your way.

    My first bent shaft paddle

Good Paddle! I would like to try that one of these days. ended up finding one on ebay last summer for 40 bucks so I figured I couldn't make one for that. Yours looks better though. Tom

    Muzzle loaders

I think the accuracy is great, of course a muzzleloader is about as good as you load it. My favorite bullets are from Precision Muzzelloading. Ballistic tips, very leathal and shoot tight groups with less drop than same weight in different design bullet. The main accuracy problem with the...
