    Robb White Sport Boat

I'm calling it 90% finished. I've submitted the paperwork to get it registered and I'm waiting for the inspection so that I can obtain registration numbers. A few things remain to be done. I need to make a detachable anchor lock for the bow, add a bow line, mount cleats in the stern and work...

    Robb White Sport Boat

Thanks. Yes, it should look like the one pictured. The redwood will be darker though. The boat is about 42" wide by 16' long. I have a 2 hp Suzuki outboard and a 40 lbs. trolling motor for it. Kurt

    Robb White Sport Boat

It has been 4 years since I built my last canoe and a few years since I purchased the plans for Robb White's strip built version of the Gruman Sport Boat. Over the weekend, I finally started working on the boat. So far, I have the transom cut out and one layer of 4 oz. fiberglass added along...

A question for the strippers out there...

Cutting too deep is the problem. Try starting your fence adjustments with it too far away. Cutting too shallow should leave two flats on each edge of the cove. Advance the fence until the flats just disappear. That will leave you with the most meat on the edges. Hope that helps. Kurt

    Post Your Fishing Rig

I like the minimalist approach. The only things that I add to my canoe are the bow and stern anchor locks that slip over the decks. No need for a depth finder. I'm usually fishing in wather less than 2' deep. Kurt

    Strip Canoe Question

I have some home owner projects to complete, such as painting the house and replacing some facia boards, etc. before I can think about it. I plan to start on the facia boards and siding Friday. Once that is finished, I need to finish building a card catalog style cabinet I started on back in...

Campfire topic Oldyaker asks How's your boat rigged to fish?

Mick, The canoe is the Merlin. Plans were purchased from Northwest Canoe http://www.northwestcanoe.com/. I can't say enough good things about it. It tracks straight, not too tough to turn and is stable enough for me to stand to stretch, cast or paddle standing using a kayak paddle. Wakes...

    Strip Canoe Question

If the timing works out right, when I mill the strips for my next project we can help each other out. It's a drag ripping all the strips by myself. If you want to help and want to drive over to BR, we can mill both of our strips at one time. I have all the tools necesary for the job, just...

Campfire topic Oldyaker asks How's your boat rigged to fish?

I have detachable anchor locks on the bow and stern of the canoe. Two are essential, in my opinion, for keeping me pointed in the direction I want for fly fishing. The bow anchor line is tucked next to the seat on my left and the stern is on the right. An ice chest is placed in front of the...

A couple pics from 2 weekends ago

Recipe: Coat fish fillets sliced about 1/2" wide with corriander powder, cumin powder, paprika and salt. In a cast iron skillet with a bit of oil and butter in it, blacken fish until a crust forms on each side. If you don't have a good vent, it's a good idea to do this outside because it...
