I'm curious, what kind of handling characteristics a paddler should expect from a concave hull? Would that be better for lakes? Or, rivers?

My son has one of these ; http://www.banditmarine.com/products.html It is supose to be more stable than a flat bottom boat. I only tried it one brief time. It seemed ok to me, but I am not experienced in small boats enough to judge. It does not track very well, but it is only 10'-6".

The pics are great. How would you rate this build as far as difficulty?

Jack as far as the handling goes, you have as much of a clue as I, but based on other JEM Watercraft designs I expect to be pleasantly suprised, my premis for this design was the ability to stand and flyfish,I hope to know more in the near future.

Bentlly this is my 1st kayak build (built a 16' skiff 25 years ago )and i don't consider this a difficult build, with input from good people here,JEM watercraft and texas kayak fisherman it's gone realy well and I'm making good progress now, here's an update.
plywood version assembled/goopied/started sanding&sanding.

Oh I can hear it now.. "Can newspaper be used instead of fiberglass"?

What a riot that would cause , someone walks up and looks at the kayak and asks if it is made from newspapers.... He tells them it is and the reason for it is ....... When the fish are not hitting he has something to read.

Not much to report right now time consumed with sanding, preparing for glassing. did get the last 2 upper panel installed and goopied on the strip panel boat, then more sanding

Note the pretty pink ties, who sez theres nothing sexy about boatbuilding. [url
