I was in my local home depot today and noticed that they have 16 foot lengths of lattice and other trim lumber in strips down to about 1/4 inch thick. Most of these or between 1 1/2 inches to 5/8 inches wide. I know this is pine but could one build a strip built pirogue or canoe from this stuff?

I am building a boat using the UJ stems and ribs. I want to use a chine instead of filets on the interior around the bottom. The ribs are only about 1 1/8 inch wide so if I cut out a notch for the chine I am afraid they will be too thin. Can I notch the chine board or should I approach this in...

It always bothers me that they move around after I cut off the head, gut and skin them. I laid a dressed out rattlesnake in the cooler on ice and when I went to get it out it was coiled up like to strike. Kind of creepy but they are good eating. :shock:

How thick are the sides and floor?

I am building a pirogue and need to know what glue, adhesive or epoxy I should use to put it together that will be compatible with the epoxy I use to fiberglass the boat. I do not want to open and mix the epoxy that is for the fiberglassing until I am ready to do that job. Thanks, ET :roll:
