    Done.... Finally!

    Theres still some final touch up to do. Things like cleats and finding the perfect spot to mount the seats for the right balance. Overall I think it turned out great for a first time builder.     Stupid question

    I know this is silly but im going with a natural wood finish. So let me get this straight. I fiberglass the surfaces then varnish to protect the epoxy. After the epoxy is cured do I just brush or roll on the varnish? Do I sand it? Whats the process here?

    Almost ready for close-up

    Almost ready for fiberglass. Shes looking good and man is she light. Its going to have to wait though, I gotta go back on the boat for 28 days starting tomorrow. :(

    Butt joint question

    I went with a butt joint with a reinforcing plate on the bottom of my uj pirogue. Now when I attach the bottom to the sides how do I deal with the raised section where the plate is? I used the 5mm luan. Cant I just sand a bevel to get it to mate up?

    Easiest build

    I'm nearing completion of my uj pirogue. My first build. I want a kayak next. Something simple to start with. A step up from the pirogue if you will. I'm not picky about style but no SOT,s. What do ya think? How's the laker or freedom series boats as far as difficulty?

    Sandpaper question

    I have a rigid palm sander that uses the rectangle sandpaper with the holes for the vacumn. I can't find the sheets for it anywhere? It's the clamp on style. I can find the hook and loop but not the clamp style? I've checked home depot, lowes, ace, you name it. Any ideas?

    Uj pirogue 1/2" plywood?

    Has anyone built a uj pirogue using 1/2" plywood? Or 15/32" which is what they sell at my local home depot. I'm thinking serious durability?

    New guy from shalimar Florida

    Hey everyone I love the site. Just got my uj pirogue. Working on scarf joints now and was wondering what glue to buy. I know uncle John says the glue isn't real important but I'd like something strong. Oh and make it something they sell at lowes. It's close to my house. Lol! Got lucky last night...
