    Hey, I want one

http://www.foilkayak.com/faq/theory/ Is it too late to nail a couple of 2x4s to the bottom of the canoe?

    Day on the Wekiva

We put in at King's Landing. We have an exchange student so we're starting at basic canoing, plus this way we could show her Wekiva spring further upstream. So, without further ado, our first canoe trip since...since last year. Like October or November. Oh hey, I...

    well the canoe is up

I knitted a couple of slings (out of rope from Lowes) and now the canoe is up and out of the way in the new garage. The sky is weird here. It's so...big. I thought it was scary big when we were on Lake Jesup, it looks like you could just fall up. It's all of Oviedo, not just the lake. I...

    Canoe slings

I had a bunch of messages saved with at least one picture and Javier said he knew all about them. Now that I want him to slap them together real quick, he's got no idea what I'm talking about. Sigh. Right now, the canoe is resting on 2 saw horses. Someone had some pvc and strapping sort of...

    Lake Jesup-saw gators!

I DID wonder how many we were going over. I'm thinking, though, probably none. They seemed really skittish and always ducked under while we were still pretty far away. I don't think they'd come up TO the canoe if they could help it. Also, Alex made his baby gator call and none cared. We...

How do you get the pirogue to the water?

So this...thing is something that you take with you too, to get the boat from the car to the water, right? Not just from the garage to the car?

    Lake Jesup-saw gators!

I was taking a picture of the far one when the other popped up. I think the secret to seeing them is going out in the afternoon. We never saw any in the water in the morning. And we varnished the canoe finally. Stinks. No longer glossy. Sad. :(

There's something wrong with those trees. They're all funny colors. Sickly, like they might drop their leaves next.

Bored with reports about Lake Jesup yet?

Is THAT what tiny url is! HAHAHAhahahaha! For years I've seen it used but everytime I've clicked on it, it has always been a dead link. I don't know if that bodes well for actually using it myself, huh?

Bored with reports about Lake Jesup yet?

I thought this was amusing: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Lake+Jesu ... 019827&t=k The source of all the noise. The road. The airboat. Even constant planes!

Request for Chicken Noodle Soup recipe

Something I learned from an old lady is to roast the chicken before you boil it into soup. I know, I thought the same thing. "That takes twice as long. How can that make any difference." It DOES make a taste difference! You don't have to cook it all the way through, just enough to get the...

Bored with reports about Lake Jesup yet?

Hey! We spotted 4 gators! Finally! 3 visuals and one huge splash in the swampy grass, a bird squawk then silence. Saw some wild pigs too. 2 black ones right by the water that took off when they saw us and a few back in the grass that ran away with them. Almost went to Bird Island from...

How important is the varnish coat?

Since it just isn't raining, we keep taking the canoe out instead of sanding it down and varnishing it. How long can we go before the sunlight makes the epoxy all brittle?

    Simply not true!!!

Ha! You forget that we only have the one rug-rat...no, he's more of a yard-ape now.

1st problem to solve - which boat?!

Trying to show how much space we have inside... I took this the day we took a friend with us. He paddled while I ate a granola bar and took pictures He's not a little guy at all: When it's just our son, there's this much room: He's not really a little guy either. He's a...

    Lake Jessup-just looking

We went to Lake Jessup Park, sorta went toward Soldiers Creek then considered going closer to Central Winds Park to see if a person COULD access the water there but then decided that we probably wouldn't bring the canoe to the Highland Games anyway and sorta swung back. I was thinking next time...

    Lake Jessup-just looking

We took the canoe out on Lake Jessup last Monday. The mullet were jumping like crazy. The water is very murky so there were a lot more close jumps than we've had before, I was convinced we'd take home a boat full of fish and we didn't even have a fishing pole! Do you need a fishing permit...
